Please arrive for your exam 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time in order to facilitate registration.

You may drink clear liquids but have no solid food 3 hours prior to exam. Arrive 1 hr 15 minutes prior to your appointment. You may be asked to drink oral contrast prior to your exam. Ultrasound Abdomen Gallbladder Spleen Pancreas
Nothing to eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam.
Ultrasound: Thyroid Breast Scrotum Carotids
No special preparation required.
Ultrasound Obstetrics or Pelvis
Plan to arrive for your appointment time with a full bladder. If necessary you may need to drink four 8 oz. glasses of liquid/water in 20 minutes one hour before your exam.
Arteriogaphy / Angiography Vertebroplasty
Nothing to eat and only clear liquids to drink day of the exam. Plan on staying 4-6 hours after exam completion. (IF ON COUMADIN OR PLAVIX), do not take for 5 days prior to the exam and notify your regular doctor of this. Take blood pressure and heart medicine as usual day of exam.
Barium Enema
Purchase a "Lafayette Enema Prep Kit" at your local drug store and use as directed prior to exam. Clear liquids only for 24 hours prior to exam. Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled exam time.
Upper GI/Barium Swallow/Small Bowel Study
Nothing to eat or drink 5 hours prior to exam.
Epidural Steroid Injection
Do not eat or drink anything for three (3) hours prior to the exam. Small sips of water may be used to take routine medications. If you are diabetic, please follow your normal insulin schedule. Please contact one of our nurses (941) 917-1316 prior to your procedure if you take heparin, coumadin or plavix.
